8 members of crime gang held in capital

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight members of an organised crime gang named Brave Danger Strong King” (BDSK) who involved in various crimes including snatching, mugging, drug peddling and extortion in different areas of Mohammadpur in the capital.
A team of RAB-4 detained them from Dhaka and Faridpur on Saturday. At the time, RAB recovered a pistol and 11 homemade sharp weapons from their possessions.
Khandaker Al Moin, RAB’s Legal and Media wing director of RAB confirmed it at a press conference at its media centre in Karwanbazar on Sunday.
The arrestees have been identified as gang leader Srinath Mandal alias Hridoy (22), Robin Islam alias SMC Robin (20), Md Rasel (25), Al Amin (21), Md Loman (21), Md Ashique (19), Zobair Islam (19) and Suman (20).
The RAB official said they came to know about the gang while investigating a recent snatching incident in Adabar area.
Earlier on January 7, about 10 members of the crime gang attacked a man with various weapons in city’s Adabar area and took away victim’s mobile phone and other things. Even they also mugged a college student in the same area several days ago.
Khandaker Moin said the gang has 20 to 25 members and they were members of different gangs named Sabuj Bangla Group, Top Ten Group and Bhai-Dost Group.
Hridoy had been leading them for the last two to three years under name of BDSK gang, RAB officials said.
He also said that the gang members used to carry out various types of criminal activities in Dhaka Udyan, Adabar, Shyamoli, Mohammadpur and adjoining areas.
They also work as hired criminals for money, the RAB official added.
