Censor board halts release of Anonno Mamun’s movie ‘Makeup’

‘Makeup,’ a movie directed by Anonno Mamun, starring Tariq Anam Khan, Ziaul Roshan and Nipa Ahmed Realy in leading roles, was previewed by
the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on Saturday.
The movie was declared unfit for release,
according to the appeal committee.
While confirming the news, noted journalist and member of the appeal committee of the Censor Board, Shyamal Dutta told media, “The appellate division has ruled that this movie is unfit for screening due to various reasons including very weak production, weak screenplay and bad
cinematography.”
“On Saturday, we were called to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board for the hearing of our movie. We made our point there regarding why the movie should be released,” said director Anonno Mamun.
Earlier, the movie failed to get clearance from the Censor Board in 2021 due to the same reason. That time, ‘Makeup’ was released uncut on the streaming site iTheatre, Anonno Mamun mentioned.
