Mustard cultivation exceeds target in Madhukhali

Faridpur’s Madhukhali Upazila is spread across the vast fields like a yellow carpet. The horizon of Meshardia village of Ward No. 9 of Paur Sadar of the upazila is full of mustard flowers. Along with the color, the smell of mustard yellow flowers has overwhelmed the whole area. Nature is decorated with colors and fragrances in unique beauty and aesthetic form.
In addition to the municipality, more than the target area of the Agriculture Department, mustard has been cultivated in the fields of different villages of 11 unions of the upazila. Mustard flowers are full of flowers in the fields of the upazila. At the same time, the buzzing of the bees has risen.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office sources, this year the target of mustard cultivation in one thousand 280 hectares of land in one municipality and 11 unions of the upazila has been set, but with the increase in cultivation, mustard has been cultivated in one thousand four hundred hectares of land. Due to the favorable weather and the incentives of the Agriculture Department, the cultivation has increased this year. Along with that, farmers are expecting good yield due to moderate maintenance.
Mustard yield is estimated at one and a half ton per hectare.
Ibrahim Mridha, a farmer of Meshardia village of the municipality, said that there was no damage to the mustard due to the absence of storms this time. We are expecting a good yield this time as the weather is favourable.
