Inter-district Mymensingh phase begins

The inter-district Mymensingh phase of ‘Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games 2023’, organized by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), began on Tuesday at the local Rafiq Uddin Stadium with football event.
Md Shafiqur Reza Biswas, divisional commissioner of Mymensingh and president of Divisional Sports Association (DSA), formally inaugurated the Mymensingh phase as the chief guest at 11.00am.
On the first day, host Mymensingh district blanked Sherpur district by 4-0 goals in the men’s football, while Netrokona distirct team defeated Sherpur district team by 2-0 goals in the day’s another match.
While in the women’s football event, Mymensingh district blanked Sherpur district by 4-0 goals while the match between Sherpur and Netrokona ended in a goalless draw.
Three district teams of the division are taking part in the men’s and women’s category in the league system, organized by Mymensingh DSA. The teams are Mymensingh, Sherpur and Netrokona districts.
Mymensingh Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya, district Awami League’s president and DSA’s general secretary Ehteshamul Alam, zilla parishad’s chairman Yusuf Khan Pathan, DSA’s vice- president Mumtaz Uddin, DSA’s general secretary Abdullah Al Fuwad Reduowan were present there as special guests on the occasion, conducted by Mymensingh DSA’s additional general secretary Md Sazzad Jahan Chowdhury Shaheen.
Five sports events will be held in second phase in Mymensingh division. Among them, football is slated for January 17-18, athletics event on January 19 and swimming competition will be held on January 20.
