First ever 200-meter long ship arrives at Port

The main jetty of the main seaport of the country has successfully managed to crowd the large ship ‘Common Atlas’ with a length of 200 meters and a draft of 10 meters. The Marshall Islands flag ship has been docked at Chattogram Container Terminal (CCT).
As a result, Chattogram Port users will get the opportunity to transport goods at low cost and will have a positive impact on the country’s economy. The image of the country will increase in the maritime world.
On Monday (January 16), State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury inaugurated the large ship berthing program by flying balloons. Earlier, he inaugurated the newly constructed building in Bhandar Bhawan area of Chittagong port.According to port sources, in 1975, ships with a length of 160 meters and a draft of 7.5 meters were loaded at the port. In 1980 it was increased to 170 meters long and 8 meters draft. In 1990, it was increased to 180 meters long and eight and a half meters draft. 186 meters long and 9.2 meters was drafted in 1995. In 2014, ships with a length of 190 meters and a draft of 9.5 meters began to be loaded.
