Bangladesh Youth Hockey team emerged the champions in the Men’s Junior Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup Competition beating Oman Youth Hockey team by 7-6 goals in the tie-breaker of the final at Muscat, the capital city of Oman on Thursday.
The stipulated time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Oman scored the first goal in the second minute of the play.
Rakibul Hasan of Bangladesh equalized the margin in the 53rd minute of the match.
Thus, the match was decided in the penalty shoot-out and Bangladesh clinched the championship trophy.
Bangladesh stormed into the final crushing Thailand by three goals to nil in their semi-final at the same venue on Wednesday.
Bangladesh emerged the champions in the Pool-B bagging maximum nine points from three matches.
Bangladesh made an auspicious start in their Pool-B campaign crushing Hong Kong China by four goals to nil at the same venue on Friday last.
Bangladesh retained their winning streak thrashing Sri Lanka by 14 goals to nil in their second Pool-B match at the same venue on Saturday last. Amirul Islam of Bangladesh scored a double hat-trick.
Bangladesh kept their supremacy in Pool-B defeating Uzbekistan by 6-1 goals in their last Pool-B match at the same venue on Monday last. Amirul Islam hit a hat-trick in that match.
It is noteworthy that Bangladesh became champions in this tournament in 2014.
