NSU Social Services Club organises ‘Winter Clothing Drive 2022’

News Desk :
Winter is the season of fog, mist, and chill. While many of us enjoy the chilly winter days, others spend them huddled up, trying to survive. Quite sadly, many poor people in our country cannot afford even a day’s meal adequately, let alone buy warm winter clothing. Hence, North South University Social Services Club has planned to provide these needy people with a small gesture of comfort, says a club press release.
The club has organized one of its annual events, “Winter Clothing Drive 2022”, and distributed blankets and winter clothing donated by the students and faculty members of North South University for the underprivileged people living in the area of Dhupchanchiya, Bogura. Through this event, around 800 poor families were provided with blankets as a token of love and warmth.
The planning for this event started about a month before the actual date, which was January 6, 2023. On January 5, 2023, tokens were given to the needy people of that area in order to assure proper distribution of the winter clothing. For this, some club members visited that location one day prior to the event and distributed the tokens. The humanitarian event commenced at 2:00pm at the school ground of Dhupchanchiya Girls School, Talora Road, Bogura. Club members, students, and the authorities of North South University donated the blankets and winter clothing to the underprivileged people of that area.
The faculty advisor of North South University Social Services Club, Meshbaul Hassan Chowdhury, and the police commissioner of Dhupchanchiya Police Station were present at the spot and supported them throughout the whole time. They have appreciated the club for taking such good initiatives and encouraged them to carry on these types
of noble activities in the coming years, too. The police personnel of Dhupchanchiya Police Station also helped the club members in the distribution of the goods by handling the crowd during the event.
In his concluding speech at the event, the president of the North South University Social Services Club, Md. Mahmudul Islam, mentioned that the club has always worked for the betterment of underprivileged people in the country. He also added that, in future, they will do their utmost to stand by the destitute people to ensure that they are not alone in their despair.
