Architect Mubasshar Hussain dies

Renowned architect and Freedom Fighter Mubasshar Hussain died while undergoing treatment at a city hospital on early Monday.
He was 80.
Mubasshar, a former president of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, died at about 2:00am on Monday, urban planner Iqbal Habib told reporters.
‘He died while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital. He was put on life support for the past one and a half months,’ he said
He said that his body was kept on the IAB premises in the capital’s Agargaon area for public at 12:00 noon.
Mubasshar, the chief architect of Assoconsult Ltd and former president of Institute of Architects Bangladesh, graduated in architecture from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1972.
He was vocal on various issues, including civil rights and environmental movements, throughout his life.
His notable works include Proshika Bhaban, Grameen Bank Bhaban and Chittagong Railway Station.
Mubasshar’s body will be donated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) after the namaz-e-janaza held after Zohr prayers.
Mubasshar Hussain was born in the city’s Wari area on December 27, 1943.
