Attack on police: 4 cases filed against Jamaat

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday filed four separate cases against leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in connection with clashes with police in the capital’s Malibagh and Mouchak areas after Juma prayers on Friday afternoon in which 10 policemen were injured.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Faroq Hossain confirmed this matter on Saturday evening.
He said that four cases have been filed against Jamaat men for engaged in clashes with police.
Earlier on Friday (Dec 30) night and Saturday (De 31) morning, the police filed one case with Dhaka’s Rampura police station, two with Khilgaon Police station and another with in Shahjahanpur Police Station.
According to the case, Jamaat-e-Islami activists have been accused of obstructing police work, assault and explosion.
On December 30, clashes broke out between police personnel and Jamaat-Shibir men in the capital’s Malibagh and Mouchak areas right after Juma prayers as they tried to bring out processions in those areas.
