Those who are coming out have polythene filled goods in their hands. The shopping list includes household items, sarees, shawls, toys, shoes, bags, jewelry, ornaments, balloons, earthenware, banks, vases, plastic flowers, pickles, cakes, carpets! This is the image of the product fair of Victory Mela Parishad of Liberation War at the outer stadium of the city.
This is the 34th event under the slogan ‘Victory of Liberation, Pride of Bengali Heroes’. At the end of this month-long fair, the shopping spree is over. As there is no entry ticket to the fair, buyers from all classes from low class to high class are gathering. As a result, there is some traffic congestion in the surrounding roads from the afternoon.
It has been seen on the ground that the stalls of the fair are not even able to catch the breath of the salesmen. Especially the stalls of imitation jewellery, children’s toys, home goods, shawls, jamdani sarees are crowded.
Liberation War Victory Mela Parishad General Secretary Mohammad Yunus said that since 1989, the last 33 years of Victory Mela has been held in Chattogram, the cradle of the movement. which has spread to remote areas of the country. Vijay Mela has been organized with great enthusiasm to sharpen the spirit of the liberation war by preserving the long-standing continuity. In the beginning, the number of visitors and buyers in the fair was low, but now it is crowded. Busy shopping is going on. When asked if the time of the fair will be extended, he said, we have already been given a letter to vacate the ground by January 4. We also do not want to extend the time of the fair. The fair will continue till December 31. We will vacate the field by January 1.
