Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games will begin on January 2, 2023.
After four years, the second Bangladesh Youth Games is scheduled to be held. The first phase (Inter-Upazila) of the Games will be held from January 2 to January 10, the second phase (Inter-District) will take place from January 16 to January 22 and the final phase will be held in Dhaka from February 26 to March 4.
Earlier, President of Bangladesh Olympic Association and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed unveiled the logo and mascot of the games at Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on December 23.
To stage the Bangladesh Youth Games smoothly, a 14 sub-committees have been formed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the Chief Patron of the Games, while Minister for Finance AHM Mustafa Kamal is the Chairman of the Games.
Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the final phase of the Games at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city’s Banani on December 26.
A total of 60000 participants including players, team officials, technical officials, sports organizers will take part in the gala extravaganza.
The players (Under-17) will compete in 24 disciplines. The total events are 198. The total medals are 1419 (429 gold medals, 429 silver silver medals and 561 bronze medals).
To mark the upcoming Games, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium in Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Bhaban on Wednesday.
Vice-President of BOA and Chairman of the Media Committee of Bangladesh Youth Games Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, Deputy Secretary General of BOA Ashiqur Rahman Miku, Coordinator of the Games Brigadier General Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Member Secretary of the Media Committee of the Games Sirajuddin Alamgir and Treasurer of BOA AK Sarkar were present at the conference.
