Fishes poisoned in Tarash

Local fishes worth Tk 7 lakh were killed by the poison poured by leased canal at Tarash in Sirajganj. The incident took place in the Baruhans Vetua Canal of Baruhans Union of the upazila late on Sunday night. About 7 lakh Taka worth of local fish has been killed. Moinul Haque Chairman of Baruhans Union confirmed the matter.
Locals said that Abu Said of Baruhans area under the jurisdiction of Daur Nimaichra Sambay Samity Limited took a lease of about one kilometer long Baruhans Vetua canal for Tk 5 lakh. He has been taking care of native species of fish in that canal for about 5 months.He was also preparing for fishing in that canal recently. But late on Sunday night, miscreants applied strong poison to the canal.Various types of fish, including Boal, Shoal, Gojar, Kai, Pabda, Puthi, Tengra, Shing-Magur, worth about 7 lakh taka in the canal, died.
That fish farmer woke up in the morning and went to the bank of the canal and burst into tears after seeing the sight of dead fish. He said that fish worth about Tk 7 lakh died due to poisoning in his leased canal.
In this context, Tarash Police Station Officer- In- Charge Shahidul Islam said that received the complaint. Police have also been sent to the spot.
