Christmas Day celebrated in districts

Christians across the country, including Sylhet celebrated Christmas Day with festivities and religious rituals.
On the occasion of the day, a congregational prayer was organized at the Presbyterian Church in Sylhet City’s Nayasak area on Sunday morning.
Conducted by Father Nijhum Sanghma. Christians participated in it. A discussion session was then held.
Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Sylhet Neeraj Kumar Jaswal, Nita Jaswal, SCC Councilor Shahanara Begum, Sylhet District Press Club President Al Azad, Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad City President Advocate Mrityunjoy Dhar Bhola, General Secretary Pradeep Deb and Prof. Rajat Bhattacharya, Central Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjakar Parishad were present here.
Gouripur (Mymensingh) Correspondent reports: Members of the Christian community in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh have celebrated Christmas Day with much enthusiasm, festivity and religious fervour on Sunday.
Christmas, the biggest religious festival of the Christians, is also a celebration of rebirth, new beginning, forgiveness and peace. For the believers, it is an occasion to renew relationship between God and humans.
Marking the carnival, Christians were seen offering special prayers at Gouripur Baptist Church as in some other villages of this upazila.
Lalmonirhat Correspondent adds: Various houses along with local places of worship have been decorated with lights and colorful decorations to observede Christmas Day in Lalmonirhat .
Members of law enforcement are engaged in security work during this festival.
Lighting the Christmas tree has stimulated the religious festival and maintain religious solemnity.
More than one and a half thousand people of Christian community living in Lalmonirhat were celebrated this festival. At this time, prayers and blessings are recited for the well-being of the country and the nation. Social worker Zakia Sultana Rimu, Mayor of Lalmonirhat Municipality Md. Rezaul Karim Swapan and others were present in the cake cauuting function and shared the joy with everyone.
