144 BNP men including Rizvi denied bail in case over clash at Noyapaltan

A Dhaka court yesterday refused bail to 144 BNP men including the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabi Rizvi in the case filed in connection with the clash between police and BNP people on December 7.
Magistrate Ataullah of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing.
Former President of Dhaka Bar Association advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, former Dhaka Bar Secreary Omar Faruque Faruqui and some other pro-BNP lawyers conducted the hearing on behalf of the defense while Special Public Prosecutor opposed the bail pleas of the accused people.
On December 7, BNP people clashed with police in front of their central office at Noyapaltan of the capital. During the clash a young man died and many others were injured in the incident.
During the police raid, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabi Rizi, Publicity Secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Convener Aman Ullah Aman, Chairperson’s Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and many other leaders and activists were arrested.
