Huge public suffering due to BJML council in city

Huge traffic congestion created acute public sufferings across the capital due to the triennial national council of the Bangladesh Jubo Mohila League (BJML), an affiliated body of the ruling AL, at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday.
City dwellers and commuters from the adjacent streets of the city suffered acutely due to the programme as the vehicular movement stalled for hours since morning.
“I have started journey from Mirpur at 10 am for Motijheel for an emergency office work there, but the huge traffic gridlock has taken my almost three hours from Farmgate to Motijheel and finally I failed to reach the office in time,” said Ratan, in front of the National Press Club after noon.
He said many of the commuters also experienced the similar agony due to the AL’s front organizations function.
Witnesses from Motijheel, Rajarbagh, Paltan intersection, Gulistan, Sayedabad, Jatrabari, Shahbagh, Malibagh, Moghbazar, Farmgate and adjacent areas said the traffic gridlock prevailed in the vast areas for hours.
In many areas, school students suffer to reach their examination halls in time as the final examination is going on.
“I suffered acutely to take my six grader daughter in examination hall at her school in
Shidheswary area in the morning due to huge traffic gridlock in adjacent areas,” said Sharmily Das, a home maker and mother of school students in Malibagh area.
She asked all political parties to organize their mass rallies and such other events weekly or national holidays so that the people can get rid of from sufferings.
Commuters from different areas informed the talking with journalists but their sufferings.
