Customs detectives recovered 12 kg of gold bars from a Bangladesh Biman flight from Singapore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Shafiqul Islam, revenue officer of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, gave this information on Monday night.
He said that the recovered 12 kg (1034 bhori) of gold has a market value of Tk 8 crore.
Sanjeeda Khanom, deputy director of the Directorate, told the media a Biman flight landed in Dhaka airport at 6:30 pm on Monday. They had
information that gold would arrive on this flight. Based on this, the aircraft was raided. The gold bars were brought in a fancy way to a seat where there was no passenger.
She said the gold bars were seized in the presence of representatives of all agencies in charge of the airport.
“We are trying to find out who brought these gold bars,” she added.
