Highest VAT paying companies and persons awarded

Some 11 highest VAT paying companies in Sylhet were awarded honorary crests to mark the National VAT Day and VAT Week.
National VAT Day and National VAT Week are being observed in Sylhet on the theme of ‘Development VAT Policy, Build Nation with VAT’ and December 10-15.
On the occasion of the Natioanl VAT Day and VAT Week, a seminar and awards were given by the initiative of Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate Sylhet Region in Conference Hall of the city on Saturday.
Member of National Board of Revenue (Customs Audit, Modernization and International Trade and Customs and VAT Administration) Abdul Mannan Shikder was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
Tax commissioner of Sylhet tax region. Abul Kalam Azad, The Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Tahmin Ahmed, Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Afzal Rashid Chowdhury and Sylhet Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Swarnlata Roy also present as a special guest.
The speakers said that various banks and related organizations are working to bring the overall VAT system under automation. To modernize and simplify the VAT system, implementation of various initiatives to pay VAT online in various easy ways is underway. Besides, businessmen and institutions are being given honors and various kinds of facilities to increase VAT payers.
At the end of the event, the guests gave awards to various organizations that paid the highest VAT. The awardee companies are – M/s Phulkali Food Products Limited, Sylhet (Manufacturing), M/s Ifat Associates, Sylhet (Business), Sylhet Cable Systems Pvt Ltd (Service), M/s Suma Food-1, Moulvibazar (Manufacturing), M/s MB Cloth Store. , Moulvibazar (Business), M/s Saad & Co., Moulvibazar (Service), M/s Akiz Plastics Limited, Sunamganj (Manufacturing), M/s PK Trading Agency, Sunamganj (Business), M/s Pansi Restaurant, Sunamganj (Service), M/s Sharif Electronics , Habiganj (Business), M/s Al-Amin Food Fair Hotel & Restaurant, Habiganj (Service).
Dignitaries, journalists, photographers and officials of all levels of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate were present in the event.
It is to be noted that during the national VAT week on December 10-15 in Sylhet, with the aim of increasing public awareness of VAT, miking, campaigning, distribution of booklets, leaflets, receiving and issuing registration of stone crusher establishments, provision of VAT related services including immediate new registration to unregistered establishments, raising awareness about submission of Mushak. , various trainings will be provided including online VAT acceptance and confirmation of return filing.

This award was given at the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Office on Central Road in Rangpur Nagar on Saturday .
Commissioner of Excise and VAT Commissionerate Suresh Chandra Biswas presided over the function as Chief Guest, Member of National Board of Revenue Md. Abdul Majeed.
Rangpur Tax Zone Commissioner Md Abul Kalam, Local Government Department Director Fazlul Kabir, Rangpur Chamber President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, Rangpur Additional VAT Commissioner Arun Kumar Biswas spoke as special guests on the occasion.
The speakers said that the VAT administration has been playing a direct role in collecting more revenue in the glorious path of joining the ranks of developed countries by 2041.
In the event, it was informed that last year Rangpur division collected 2 thousand 800 crore rupees through income tax and VAT. To make VAT payments easier for traders, the National Board of Revenue has ensured various facilities including online VAT registration, online filing of monthly returns, online tax payment.
