Farmers getting incentives in Kishoreganj

Some one lakh marginal farmers of haor areas, the will be given government incentives, said the Agriculture Extension Department.
At present, the farmers are spending busy time in the Haor areas
of the district in making Boro paddy seed beds. As the weather is favorable for seed sowing, the farmers are busy from morning to evening. However, they are worried about early floods, non-availability of fair price of paddy, increase in prices of agricultural machinery, fertilizers, pesticides and diesel. Because of this, the interest of farmers in rice cultivation has decreased.
It is known that out of 13 upazilas of Kishoreganj, 5 partial and 3 are fully occupied by haor. Out of these the haor upazilas Itna, Mithamin and Ashtagram have the most boro paddy cultivation. This time, the target of boro paddy cultivation has been set on 1 lakh 88 thousand hectares of land in the district. The agriculture department is providing all kinds of support to the farmers. This time agricultural incentives are being given to one lakh marginal farmers of the district. In this incentive, 50,000 farmers are being given hybrid seeds, while 50,000 farmers will get UPC seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
The farmers in haor areas are dependent on boro cultivation as the only crop. So preparations have already started for the howre Boro paddy season. In Kishoreganj , 320 hectares of hybrid rice, 1,250 hectares of upsi rice and 33 hectares of local varieties have been planted.

Due to this, the picture of this year is slightly different compared to previous years. Farmers have lost interest in rice cultivation.
The Itna haor farmer Abul Kashem said that, since last year, everything including diesel and fertilizers are more expensive, so this time I have reduced rice cultivation. When we have paddy, the price of paddy is low and when we don’t have paddy, the price of paddy increases.
