Mother, six-year-old son found dead in Jashore home

A mother and her six-year-old son were found dead in their home in Bagharpara upazila of Jashore on Saturday night.

The deceased were Zubaida Khatun, 30, wife of Zakir Hossain of Dakshinpara in Khalshi village under Dohakula Union, and her son Jisan.

The incident took place around 10pm, when locals spotted the bodies at Zakir’s house and informed police. Police later went to the scene and recovered the bodies.

The bodies were sent to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy. Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after receiving the autopsy report.

Bagharpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Jalal Alam said the incident appeared suspicious. “It does not appear to be a case of suicide. However, the matter will be clear after the autopsy,” he said.
