Renowned vocalist Tutul passes away
Kudrat Elahi Tutul (65), the vocalist of Credence, Barisal’s first band in post- independent Bangladesh, has passed away. He is also the Organizing Secretary of Barisal Metropolitan Awami League and President of ward number 17 Awami League.
He passed away on Saturday (November 03) morning at his residence at Muslim Gorasthan Road area in the city. At the time of his death, he left behind numerous devotees including his wife and two sons.
His death has cast a shadow of mourning among civil society including band artists of Barishal. Relatives and fellow artistes have prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased.
Dead dolphin floated in Kuakata beach
A dead dophin of Iraboti species has washed up on Kuakata beach under Patuakhali district on Sunday noon. The 4-feet-long dolphin has a wound on its face. Its width was one and a half feet.
Another 5-foot bottlenose dolphin surfaced on October. So far this year, 19 dead and alive dolphins were found.
According to the Dolphin Protection Committee, the dolphin floated in the coastal area during the high tide on Sunday. This four-foot baby dolphin has a wound on its face. They believe the dolphin died three to four days ago.Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, team leader of the Kuakata Dolphin Protection Committee, said, Members of the Committee after informed by the locals rushed to the spot at Lembur Char on the estuary of the three rivers, five kilometers west of Kuakata’s zero point, on Sunday.
Robbers looted four business enterprises, house
Armed robbers looted four business enterprises and a house of marriage ceremony in Wazirpur and Babuganj upazila of Barishal district on early Sunday.
Barishal district superintendent of police Wahidul Islam said that he went to Babuganj after receiving the news. Senior officials have also been sent to Wazirpur. After they come he can tell what exactly happened. However, those involved in the incident will be arrested soon. Babuganj upazila Kedarpur union member of Ward number 2. Rokan Mridha said that a group of robbers attacked the house of Mujibar Khan in Bhuterdia village on early Sunday.
Two unnatural deaths in Barishal
A housewife named Rekha Rani Boidya (40) died after getting her clothes entangled in the wheels of the battery operated rickshaw van and she falling on road received head injury. The incident took place at Neemtala in Agailjhara upazila of the district.
On Saturday afternoon, police station OC Golam Sarwar confirmed the truth of the information and said that Rekha Rani Boidya, wife of Dukhiram Boidya of Lakharmatia village of Rajihar union of the upazila, was going to Gournadi in a battery-powered van on Saturday evening.
On the way, she was thrown out of the van after wrapping her clothes around the wheels of the van at Neemtala of the road. Rekha Rani was rescued and taken to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, where she died on early Sunday.
On other hand the police recovered the hanging body of a youth named Hridiya Mridha (27) from a residential hotel ‘Rose Haven’ in South Port Road area of the city on Sunday afternoon.
Hriday Mridha is the son of Abul Kashem Mridha of Keshavkathi village of Wajirpur upazila.
