‘Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura’ nominated for Kolkata International Film Festival

Bangladeshi movie titled ‘Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura’ (The Golden Wings of Watercocks) has been nominated for the 28th
edition of the prestigious Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). Directed by Muhammad Quayum, the movie has been selected
for the ‘International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images’ category, said a press release.
The news was confirmed by the director himself.
He wrote his Facebook, “Congratulations to the team of ‘Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura’. Heartfelt thanks to all the casts and crew. Our film has been selected in the International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images category at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival. The festival will start from December 15 and continue till December 22.” The plot of the movie revolves around a family from the Haor region.
The movie casts Ujjwal Kabir Himu, Jayita Mahalanbeesh, Sumi Islam, among others, in various roles. Released on November 4, the debut movie of the director had only one theatre, which was the Bashundhara Star Cineplex.
This year a total of 180 films will be screened out of 1,078 films submitted from 57 countries.
There are five categories in the festival-Competition Category – International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images, Competition on Indian Languages, Asian Select (NETPAC) Award, National Competition on Documentary, National Completion on Short Fiction.
There are also two Non-Competition Categories – Cinema International and Bengali Panaroma.
