BCL holds DU unit council

DU Correspondent :
The annual council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Dhaka University unit, was held yesterday on the DU campus.
A total of 245 candidates have submitted their CVs for the posts of president and general secretary of the unit for the next committee.
BCL president Al-Nahean Khan Joy inaugurated the council while Awami League AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader delivered his speech as the chief guest.
BCL General secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee was also present on the occasion chaired by DU unit President Sonjit Chandra Das.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that BNP does not like the Suhrawardy Udyan for their December 10 council venue because they do not believe in the Liberation War.
“Mirza Fakhrul has chosen the Paltan with ill motive. He said that accident would take place in the Suhrawardy Udyan. I say none will do this, you yourself will bring sticks, arson and bomb,” Quader said.
Obaidul Quader further said Chhatra League will not even go near the BNP rally and said, “We shifted the BCL national council from December 8 to December 6 to give space to the BNP.”
“We know that after December 10, the BNP will announce a strike and commit arson violence. Will we remain silent?” Quader questioned.
“Now people of the country say ‘be aware of the BNP’,” he added.
The BNP can not tolerate the development and prosperity of the country, the Minister added.
In this regard, Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will declare the names of the presidents and general secretaries of DU branch, Dhaka North and South Metropolis units and the central unit after BCL national council on December 6.
