Govt worried not with Japan envoy’s comment: FM

Staff Reporter :
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said that the government was not worried with the recent comments of the Japanese Ambassador about the allegations of vote rigging in the latest parliamentary polls.
In the last few days, Foreign Minister has been giving counter remarks about the Japanese Foreign, sometimes saying that the foreigners should bear in mind that ‘Bangladesh is not a colonial state anymore and foreigners should follow the diplomatic code of conduct before passing any comments on the internal issues.
Even on another day, he held the media and journalists responsible for compelling the foreigners to make comments on the internal affairs of the country, saying ‘It is shameful to tell outsiders about your family’s story.”
In the latest development on Sunday, Foreign Minister said that some wicked persons had provided the Japanese envoy with wrong information about the general election held in 2018.
“He is a good and simple person. He is a good friend of Bangladesh. We are not worried about his remarks. Some wicked people misinformed him about the election,” he added.
Foreign Minister came up with the remarks in response to a question of the journalists after attending an international workshop organised by Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnea, Bangladesh in a city hotel on Sunday.
