Six arrested in connection with robbery in Keraniganj

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of Lalbagh Division has arrested six members of a gang of robbers on the charge of committing robbery amounting to Tk 85 lakh from a businessman in Keraniganj under the identity of DB Police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sohag Majhi, Md. Delwar, Md. Zainal Hossain, Md. Sohail, Md. Johnny and Md. Aziz. At the time of arrest, two million taka in cash, one microbus and one motorcycle were recovered from their custody.
DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Mohammad Haron or Rashed gave details about this in a press briefing at DMP Media Center Saturday.
In the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Moshiur Rahman DC (DB) of Lalbagh Division, police arrested them by conducting several drives in Diabari and Kajla areas of the capital, Savar Thana and Patuakhali Sadar Thana areas of Dhaka district on Friday.
DC Moshiur said that on November 13, 2022, at 1.30 pm, a businessman of Keraniganj Police Station left for South East Bank in Abdullahpur with Tk 85 lakh in cash in a bag from his business establishment.
On the way, 10/12 unidentified robbers stopped the traders and identified themselves as DB Police. The robbers then fled in a microbus and a motorcycle after looting the money at gunpoint.
A case was filed with the South Keraniganj police station under Dhaka district.
The Lalbagh Detective Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) started a shadow investigation into the case. He also said, with the help of various intelligence analysis and modern information technology, the dacoit Delwar Hossain involved in the sensational robbery incident was arrested from Mirpur Diabari area of the capital. According to his information, raids were conducted in Kaundia area of Savar police station and three other robbers directly involved in the incident were arrested.
According to the information given by the arrested robbers, Sohag Majhi, the head of the Patuakhali Sadar Thana area robbery gang , was arrested along with Tk 19 lakhs obtained in the robbery.
