Marginal farmers of Ishwardi jailed in debt case

At least 12 marginal farmers of Ishwardi have been sent to jail in the loan case of cooperative bank. The Pabna Senior Judicial Court issued arrest warrants in the name of 37 farmers in the case filed by the bank for non-return of only Tk. 25-30 thousand loans. The police arrested 12 people in raids on Thursday late night and Friday (November 25) morning. After noon, the arrested marginal farmers were sent to jail through the court.
Ishwardi Thana Police confirmed the arrest of the farmers and learned that the marginal farmers had taken loans from a financial institution called Bangladesh Sambay Bank. Arrest warrants have been issued against them even after paying the loan amount. District Office of Bangladesh Cooperative Bank at LMB Market in Pabna District City.
Among the 12 arrested farmers are Mahatab Mondal (45), son of Moni Mondal of Bhardimari village in Chalimpur Union of Ishwardi, Abdul Gani Mondal (50), son of deceased Sobhan Mondal, Shamim Hossain (45), son of Kamal Pramanik, Samad Pramanik (43), son of deceased Ayez Uddin, Noor Bux (45) son of deceased Samir Uddin, Mohammad Akram (46) son of Riaz Uddin, Alam Pramanik (50) son of Shukur Pramanik, Mohammad Rajab Ali (40) son of Lalu Khan, Kitab Ali (50) son of deceased Korban Ali, Harez Miar Son Hannan Mia (43), Mohammad Majnu (40) son of deceased Abul Hossain and Mohammad Atiyar Rahman (50) son of deceased Akher Uddin. All those arrested are said to be marginal farmers.
