Militant snatching: DMP’s committee will take more time to investigate

The investigation committee formed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will take more time to investigate the incident of abducting two militants from the court premises. The investigation committee was supposed to submit the investigation report on Tuesday (November 22). The incident of militant abduction is sensitive, for this reason it will take some time to submit a complete report for doing further analysis and review, said the investigation officials.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Ops) AKM Hafiz Akhter, head of the investigation committee, said, “The investigation report cannot be submitted right now. It will take more time to complete the investigation. Since the matter is sensitive, it is not enough to find out the reason behind the incident; Several recommendations will also be made to prevent such incidents in the future. According to sources related to the investigation, how the militants were snatched away from the court is not the main subject of the investigation, several recommendations will be made so that this incident does not repeat itself in the near future. That’s how it’s being investigated.
Militants systematically sprayed the eyes of the police in broad daylight and abducted the accused, leaving everyone wondering. Due to these reasons, it is taking some time to complete the investigation, he added.
Earlier, the incident took place around 12:45pm on Sunday when four accused were taken to Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Dhaka in order to produce them before the Anti-Terrorism Tribunal.
Four people on two motorbike riders came in and blinded the cops by spraying their faces when the officers were taking the convicts to court.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also formed an investigation committee in the case of snatching militants from the court premises in Dhaka. An investigation committee was formed by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police immediately after the militant was abducted last Sunday. The next day, the police headquarters formed another committee.
On Tuesday, Ministry’s Public Relations Officer Sharif Mahmud Apu announced the formation of a four-member investigation committee of the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He said that the additional secretary of security services department (prison division) has been made the convener of this committee. The remaining three members of the committee are representatives of the Inspector General of Police (not below the rank of DIG), the Additional Inspector General of Prisons and the Additional District Magistrate of Dhaka. Apu said that the committee will have to submit the report within the next seven working days.
However, Terming the incident of snatching militants by throwing spray into the eyes of police as an accidental case, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said law enforcers of the country are discharging their duties very efficiently.
