Lower court judgments, orders to be available online from now

Initiatives have been taken by the Supreme Court administration to bring judicial proceedings of the subordinate court across the country under online system. To strengthen the process, the SC has already adopted six court technologies.
The technologies are— mobile app for the Supreme Court’s website; digital copying section for the Appellate Division; The Appellate Division’s entrance control system; monitoring committee’s online reporting tools; monitoring tools for Children Courts and online publication of the subordinate courts order and Judgment.
In the inauguration ceremony of the ‘court technologies’ held on November 15 Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddiue said that the Supreme Court is continuing its efforts in order to ensure the free use of information technology in the justice system of the future.
He further said, “Our goal is only one and it is to ensure justice to the litigants in a short time and at a low cost. To that end, we all have to play a leading role in taking effective steps to make the judiciary an IT-based institution.”
To this end, the SC administration is continuing its activities to distribute computers for the subordinate courts across the country. It has distributed a total of 141 laptops among the lower court judges who came to the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) for training in different times in 2022.
Apart from this, the SC administration has given a total of 164 desktop computers to the lower courts of the country and more 200 desktop computers have already been purchased for the same purpose.
The administration has already issued a guideline in publishing the orders and judgments by the subordinate courts. It said the authorities have to be cautious in protecting the personal safety and privacy of the parties in the case during publishing court orders and judgments on the website.
The notification issued by SC Registrar General Md Golam Rabbani said the ‘Guidelines for the Use of Social Media’ issued by the Supreme Court must be followed in publishing orders and judgments on the website.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister HM Shanjid Siddique said, “Inception of court technologies in the judicial system is undoubtedly a good initiative. Hope the Chief Justice will take more effective steps to ensure justice for the litigants in a short time and at a low cost.”
