13 EDL employees suspended from CBA

A Dhaka court has suspended 13 employees of Essential Drugs Limited (EDL) from leading the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) temporarily.
Second Senior Associate Judge Court of Dhaka has given interim order to the 13 employees not to hamper the activities of the CBA of the EDL.
The court also ordered them not to create obstacles against the normal work of the Sramik Karmochary Oikkya Parishad B-2137.
Judge Md. Zulfikar Hossain Rony of the Second Senior Associate Judge Court gave the verdict on November 1.
Badrul Alam, General Secretary of the Sramik Karmochary Oikya Parishad (B-2137) submitted write petition to the court.
The court asked Kazi Obaidur Rahman and other defendants to show cause in this regards within seven office days.
The date expired on Tuesday, but the defendants had not submitted their answers before the court.
As a result, the temporary suspension is to be effected from Wednesday.
The case sources said that the CBA election of the EDL was completed on September 5 in peaceful manner.
Sramik Karmochari League got 176 votes in the election while the Sramik Karmochari Oikkya Parishad bagged 2605 votes.
Though the Sramik Karmochari Oikkya Parishad won the election, the defendants created obstacles to activities of the CBA leaders.
In these circumstances, Badrul Alam filed the case in the court against Kazi Obaidur Rahman and his coherers.
The court has summoned the defendants subpoena and to return the AD on December 1.
The defendants who got the suspension orders are Kazi Obaidur Rahman (Treasurer), Rabiul Alam, MM Noor Alam (Clerk), Babul Hossain (Senior Machine Operator), Alamgir Hossain Sardar (Office Assistant), Mamunur Rashid (Senior Machine Operator), Mohammad Kamruzzaman (Senior Clerk), Shafiqul Islam (Junior Machine Operator), Idris Ali Howladar (Junior Machine Operator), Tofail Hussain (Machine Operator), Sohel Rana (Production Worker), Abbas Ali (Machine Operator) and Molla Aktaruzzaman (Senior Machine Operator).
