47 infected with dengue in one day

The dengue outbreak continues in Kishoreganj, with 47 new patients diagnosed with dengue in the district in the past 24 hours, while 21 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Civil Surgeon Dr Saidur Rahman said the risk of dengue infection has increased significantly due to the rise in Aedes mosquito breeding during the ongoing monsoon season.

“In this situation, we are placing special emphasis on quickly removing stagnant water around homes, keeping the surrounding environment clean and protecting ourselves from mosquito bites to prevent dengue,” he said.

According to the Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon’s Office, a total of 940 dengue patients had been diagnosed in the district this year as of September 12, 2026. Of them, 840 have recovered and returned home after treatment.

However, 100 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals in Kishoreganj.

Hospital-based statistics show that the highest number of patients are admitted to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH), with 33 patients. In addition, seven patients are undergoing treatment at Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital, 19 at Bhairab Upazila Health Complex, six at Tarail Upazila Health Complex and seven at Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex. Dengue patients are also being treated at other upazila health complexes and private medical college hospitals.
