Bangladesh Under-15 Football team finished runners-up in the SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championship after they drew 1-1 with Nepal Under-15 Football team in their do-or-die match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Friday. Nepal for the first time clinched the title of the SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championship.
Champions Nepal bagged 10 points from four matches, while Bangladesh earned seven points from as many outings.
Bangladesh had to be satisfied with the runners-up trophy as they missed a penalty shot just at the dying moment. Trishna Rani of Bangladesh struck a cross from the left-side and the ball touched the hand of Bipana of Nepal at the D-box of Nepal. Thus, the referee awarded a penalty kick to Bangladesh. But Joynob Bibi’s spot-kick was saved by Nepal goalie.
Bangladesh Women’s Football team emerged the champions of the SAFF Women’s Football Championship recently at Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Nepal Under-15 Football team took the revenge yesterday.
Nepal got the lead in the 14th minute of the play. Defender Samikkha Maga of Nepal dodged past Ananna Murmu of Bangladesh and struck a volley, then Kanon Rani Bahadur of Bangladesh tried to clear the ball but the ball went to forward Sushila of Napal and Sushila made no mistake to hit the ball into the net by a forceful shot deceiving the Bangladesh custodian.
Bangladesh got the chance to equal the margin in the 35th minute of the first half. Sauravi Akanda failed to head the ball at the Nepal’s danger zone from a left side cross of her teammate.
After few minutes Nepalese defender saved an almost confirm goal as she cleared the ball from the goalline.
Ruma Akter of Bangladesh leveled the margin by a header using a corner kick of her teammate Joynob Bibi in the 54th minute of the game.
After one minute, Bangladesh failed to break the dead-lock using an easy opportunity.
