Russian Foreign Minister likely to visit Dhaka on Nov 22

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is likely to visit Dhaka to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) conference here on November 22 and 23.
Foreign Ministry sources said that Bangladesh, as the chair of the IORA, has invited member states and dialogue partners to attend the event.
A number of participants have already expressed their willingness to join the conference. Among them, the Russian Foreign Minister is expected to attend the programme. The rest of the stakeholders would respond to the invitation within a couple of days.
If Sergey Lavrov visits Dhaka, it will be the first high-level visit from Russia to Bangladesh. A meeting of the Committee of Senior Officers (CSO) will be held in Dhaka on November 22 and 23 and a ministerial level meeting will be held on November 24.
Sources said that a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh and Russia might take place during the event to talk about various co-operations. But no agreement would be signed.
Even the Russian Foreign Minister may have a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at that time.
