Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan shot in foot at political rally

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was injured and moved to a safe location after shots were fired at his rally on Thursday.
The shots were fired near the party’s container on the seventh day of Haqeeqi Azadi the march in Wazirabad. Party member Faisal Javed was also injured.
PTI’s Imran Ismail has said that party chief Imran Khan has been shot in the leg “three to four” times.
Speaking to Bol TV, he said that he was next to Imran when the attack occurred. He said that Faisal Javed was also injured and Imran sustained three to four bullet injuries in the leg.
He went on to say that the attacker was directly in front of the container and was wielding a AK-47, reports The Dawn.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has confirmed that Imran Khan was shot in the leg in a targeted attack during the long march in Wazirabad.
In an interview with Aaj TV immediately after the incident, he said that three people were injured in the attack, including Senator Faisal Javed and Ahmad Chattha.
PTI’s Farrukh Habib has said that party chief Imran Khan has been injured in firing near his container in Wazirabad.
Footage run on several Pakistani television channels showed Imran being moved from the container to another vehicle with the help of other people present on the site.
It also shows a bandage tied around the PTI’s chief leg.
Imran Khan sustained an injury on their right leg. According to Geo News, Khan has been shifted to hospital after being evacutaed in a bulletproof vehicle.
Khan is being shifted to the nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment.
DawnNewsTV has reported that PTI leader Faisal Javed was injured in firing near party chief Imran Khan’s container.
The channel said other injuries are feared as well.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan is leading an anti-government long march toward Islamabad with Khan now saying that the protest march will continue for another 10 months till the date for elections is announced.
Earlier, the plan was to reach the federal capital by 4 November. It was later revised to 8-9 November and then again revised to 11 November. PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry then announced the party will keep changing the dates to “tire the government out”.
This is the PTI chair’s second march towards Islamabad after he was ousted via a no-confidence motion earlier this year.
The political instability in Pakistan has also fuelled economic uncertainty, with international rating agencies questioning if the current government can maintain difficult economic policies in the face of political pressure and looming elections.
