One stop service can play a pivotal role in removing various bottlenecks in setting up industries, especially the complexity of land management as this service will pave the path in setting up Basic industries, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said on Monday.
“By the successful implementation of the one-stop service, Bangladesh has gained momentum in implementation of the election manifesto announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on industrial development,” he added.
He made the remarks while addressing as the Chief Guest during the inauguration of five new services through online one-stop service portal in the conference room of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) in the capital.
He also said that the government had already done the arrangements of the mutation of all the existing important industrial establishments, limited companies, export-oriented industrial establishments and companies in Chittagong, Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts in seven days. The arrangement will also be expanded, if necessary, he added.
Local Government Division Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Land Ministry Secretary Mostafizur Rahman, Security Services Division Secretary Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury and Housing and Public Works Ministry Secretary Kazi Wasi Uddin attended the opening ceremony as special guests. BIDA Executive Chairman Lokman Hossain Mia presided over the opening ceremony.
Land Minister also said, “The cost of doing business is coming down. One Stop Service has brought a paradigm shift in creating investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh. All the investment related services are available from the single window.”
“In addition, reduction in the scope of corruption has encouraged investment. Land service is now easier and investment friendly than ever,” he added.
The minister also said that the more the investment services are improved, the more foreign direct investment, which is very important for the economy, will come into the country.
“No country can develop without foreign direct investment. So we have to provide investment services in a concerted way,” he mentioned.
Mostafizur Rahman said that the digital map of the land will be uploaded online within this year. Already 20 thousand digital maps have been completed.
“If BIDA thinks, digital map service can also be integrated into a one-stop service for investors. Digital maps will help in selecting suitable land for setting up Basic industries,” he added.
Lokman Hossain Mia said a total of 63 services including 18 services of BIDA and 45 services of 22 other organizations will be available through the online one-stop service system. As a result, investors will now get much faster investment services from home.
The government has taken the initiative of a one-stop service to ensure that the investors get any services, facilities, incentives, licenses, permissions, clearances, administrative coordination, or permits required for the project or venture proposed by them (investors) within the specified time for the speedy implementation of the domestic and foreign investment plans, the organisers said.
For this, the One Stop Service Act 2018 and the One Stop Service Rules, 2020, have been enacted.
