Meta nominates Pencil Foundation and 5 other BD Facebook groups for accelerator programme

Meta, which owns Facebook,
has nominated six community groups from Bangladesh including Pencil Foundation to its
flagship accelerator programme for supporting social goods.
The community group administrators are: SM Niaz Mowla of Pencil Foundation, Mohammad Sabit Hossain of Food Bank Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud of School of Engineers), Nasima Aktar Nisha of Women and e-Commerce (WE) Trust, Shah Jalal Alif of Castaway On The Moon – COTM and Zarin Tasnim of Oporajita.
The community group applicants from different countries are scheduled to take part in the regional partner event of Meta in Singapore on November 4, said SM Niaz Mowla of Pencil Foundation.
Meta launched a community accelerator programme to help community leaders on Facebook advance their skills and utilise digital tools to deepen their impact. SM Niaz Mowla, Co-founder and Creator Admin of Pencil Foundation, told The New Nation, “For the first time this year, Meta has included Bangladeshi Facebook groups in this training programme on leadership skills which is known as the Facebook Community Accelerator programme. As such, being selected here is a matter of great pride. Moreover, about 5000 applicants were submitted from all over the world and only 135 were selected. This has increased our responislity. We will try our best with utmost dedication to introducing Bengali-speaking cultural minded people to the world through the activities of Pencil.”
