56 people killed in Kishoreganj in last two years

Road accidents and loss of life and property happen due to various reasons including competition among drivers, reckless overtaking, overloading, lack of adequate rest for drivers, disobedience to traffic laws by pedestrian and social unawareness.
Meanwhile, illegal vehicles are roaming on 60 km of Kishoreganj-Katiadi-Bhairab regional Highway. At least 56 people including children and women have been killed in 65 accidents in the last two years. About 40 people become disabled.
Various prohibited vehicles including battery operated easy bikes, CNG, auto – rickshaws are running on the 60 km of the regional Highway.
 A few days ago, a passenger battery-powered auto-rickshaw hit a speeding house on this road, killing three passengers of the auto-rickshaw. The incident took place on September 27 in Kuliarchar Chissuti area of Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional highway. This is how accidents often happen.
 BRTA and Kishoreganj ‘s Nirapad Sarak Chai sources said, last year 38 accidents occurred on this road from January to December 2021. Some 31 people died in it. Apart from this, at least 20 people were injured. 27 accidents occurred from January to September 2022 , 25 people died in that duration. Apart from this, at least 18 other people were injured in the accident. Many of the injured are living crippled with severe injuries.
According to related and local sources, the distance from Kishoreganj to Bhairab is about 60 km. Among them, passengers have to suffer in traffic jams due to the crowd of these prohibited vehicles in some bus stand areas including kaliachapra, Pulerghat Bazar, Pirojpur, Dariyakandhi and Katiadi bus stand. These prohibited vehicles can be seen on the roads even till late night. As a result, many times there are fatalities in collisions with fast moving large vehicles on the highway.
DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam urged all including transport owners, workers, passengers and pedestrians to know traffic rules and follow those properly.
Police Super( SP) in Kishoreganj Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar) said that legal action is being taken against the prohibited vehicles every day. There are cases every day. Regular miking is also being done to prevent easybikes and other prohibited vehicles from plying on the road
