Corruption in hospital project ACC filed two cases for embezzling Tk 43cr

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two cases against three health officials for embezzling Tk 43 crore from Gopalgonj and Sirajgonj hospitals set up project.
ACC’s Deputy Director SMM Akter Hamid Buhyan filed the case with the commission’s Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka on Sunday.
ACC’s Public Relation (PR) office confirmed the matter on Monday.
According to the ACC, in the project of establishing Sheikh Saira Khatun Medical College Hospital and Nursing College in Gopalganj and Shahid M Mansoor Ali Medical College and 500 Bed Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj, the project director submitted the fake bill signed by the finance officer and ezzlement Tk 43 crore. The accused are – Tejgaon Thana Health Complex Chief Assistant/Cash Md. Anisur Rahman, owner of contractor M Jahan Traders Mohsin Ali, owner of Green Traders Mahfuz Huda Saikat.
According to the ACC, they have been charged under Section 406/409/420/467/471/109 of the Penal Code as well as Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
In the first case, charges of misappropriation of Tk 21, 83, 28, 512 from Sheikh Saira Khatun Medical College Hospital and Nursing College project of Gopalganj have been brought against the accused.
In the second case, the defendants have been accused of embezzling Tk 21, 84, 24, 903 from the construction project of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College and 500 Bed Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj.
