Death anniv of Father Regan observed in Mongla

The 5th death anniversary of Father Marino Regan, a real friend of the Liberation War of Bangladesh was observed at Mongla Port town under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat in a befitting manner recently.
The day’s programme started in the morning with the placing of floral wreaths on the grave of Father Regan as a mark of respect to him in the St. Paul religious village in Mongla. It was followed with a grand rally that started from the village paraded the main roads of Mongla town and ended at the starting point where a lively discussion meeting was held on the life and works of Father Regan.
It was addressed among others by Kuber Chandra Mondol, Principal of Mongla Govt. Degree College, Shyama Prosad Sen, Lecturer of the same College, Brother Endrue Joyanta, Headmaster of St. Paul’s High School, Chiranjit Haldar, Assistant Headmaster of the same School, Md. Nur Alam Shaikh, President of Sammilita Sangaskritik Jote, Md. Harun Gazi, Jan-e-Alam Babu, Bina Mallik and Mitaly Bawali. The total ceremony was attended by the teachers, students and members of St. Paul’s High School, Mongla Govt. Degree College, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote and Education Development Foundation of Father Regan.
It may be mentioned here that late Father Regan was born in the village Vinnaverla near at Venice in Italy. In the year of 1953 he came to Bangladesh (the then East Pakistan) as a Christian priest. He traveled most of the remote villages of Bangladesh again and again and at last he settled himself at the village Shelabunia of Mongla where he established a Christian church, a High School and his permanent residence.
