Tigers dominate on day 1 Aussies 198

Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud powered Tigers to dominate on the day 1 play of the first Test against Australia at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin of Australia on Thursday.

Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud completed his superb spell as 17-3-55-6. Australia were bundled out for 198 in the first innings.

Steven Smith notched up a superb 71. His 109-ball innings was laced with seven fours and a sixer.

Steven Smith reached his 45th Test half-century playing 76 deliveries with six fours and a sixer.

He was the only batter, who resisted against the superb bowling attack of Bangladeshi bowlers.

Nathan Lyon (7) was caught at the short midwicket by Tanzid Hasan off Hasan Mahmud and Australia’s first innings came to an end.

Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 39 and 55 runs respectively.

Bangladesh had an auspicious start with two openers Shadman Islam and Tanzid Hasan scored together 36 runs in the opening stand before Shadman Islam (20) was caught at the cover point by Nathan Lyon off Mitchell Starc.

One-down Mominul Haque remained unbeaten with 35 runs, while opener Tanzid Hasan remained unbeaten with 32 runs.

Mitchell Starc took one wicket for 28 runs.
