Bangladesh recorded 1034 dengue hospitalisations in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, which is the highest single day count this year.
Besides, one more dengue patient died of dengue in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 113, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 589 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 455 outside it.
A total of 3,492 dengue patients, including 2,286 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country, according to the DGHS.
DGHS has recorded 31,063 dengue cases and 27,458 recoveries so far this year.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to treat dengue patients at the Dhaka North City Corporation’s (DNCC) Covid-19 dedicated hospital.
This decision was taken at a meeting of the DGHS on Saturday. Besides, admission of dengue patients in the hospital has started from Sunday due to increasing pressure of dengue patients in the city’s public health facilities.
Brig Gen AKM Shafiqur Rahman, director of the hospital said in a press statement that DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital is ready round the clock to provide all types of tests, ICU services, and other services to dengue patients.
On 21 June, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease.
