Teacher assault protested in Kapasia

A human chain followed by protest rally was held against physical abuse and death threats against Kapalesh’s High School teacher Achma Akhter at Kapasia in Gazipur at Upazila Muktijoddha Chatter by the initiative of Kapasia Branch of Bangladesh Teachers Association. Later, the aggrieved teachers submitted a written statement of the victimized teacher to the UNO about the march. In this regard, the teacher’s husband, Md. Shafiqul Islam, filed a general diary at the Kapasia police station.
Md. Afzal Hossain, the head teacher of the school, said that a meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room on Tuesday afternoon with the president of the school and the Upazila Executive Officer presiding over the ongoing problems of Kapalesh High School.
In the meeting, in the presence of 16 teachers and 6 staff members of the school, the members of the management committee discussed about solving various problems going on in improving the quality of education in the school. At that time, it was decided to issue a show-cause notice to Shahnaz Parveen, the assistant librarian of the school, and to temporarily expel the fourth class employee, Khorshed Alam. All these decisions of the meeting were told by his supporters to the former president of the school, Sohel Rana Sahel. Abused ICT teacher Achma Akhter said that the former president of the school Sohel Rana Sahel got angry after learning about the matter after the meeting and called him to know his whereabouts and on his way home he stopped at Kapasia bus stand area.
At that time he demanded to know the reason of UNO speaking against him and threatened to look into him. At that time, assistant head teacher of the school Saiful Islam and assistant teacher Abdul Bari were present with him. Scared by his threats, they ran away, at one point Achma Akhtar went back to the UNO office in a rickshaw to save herself and lost consciousness. At that time, the people around rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex.
When the matter became known, there was great anger among the teachers of Kapasia. Later, on Wednesday afternoon, teacher leader Shahidullah Azad, professor Shamsul Huda Liton, Saiful Islam, Afzal Hossain and others spoke in a human bond under the chairmanship of Md. Ainuddin, president of Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association and moderated by general secretary Md. Raihanuddin.
Accused Sohel Rana Sahel said that all the allegations made against him are baseless. I only forbade him to lie when he met me.
