Bangladesh take on Netherlands in T20 World Cup today

Bangladesh will take on Netherlands in their first match of the Group-2 of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup at Hobart in Australia today. The match will start at 10.00am (Bangladesh Standard Time). State-owned television channel BTV, private satellite sports channel T Sports, private satellite channel GTV will telecast the match live.
Bangladesh faced Netherlands in three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Of them, Bangladesh registered two victories, while Netherlands won one match.
Before the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh played their first warm-up match against Afghanistan at Allan Border Field in Brisbane of Australia on October 17.
But the second warm-up match between Bangladesh and Australia was abandoned due to heavy rain at the same venue on October 19.
Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Jalal Yunus, who is now staying with Bangladesh Cricket team spoke to the journalists at Hobart on Saturday night. Jalal said, ” Though Bangladesh did not get enough opportunity to practice before their T20 World Cup campaign, but Bangladesh team are prepared for the World Cup matches.”
Yunus said, ” The interruption of rain may spoil Bangladesh’s practice. But I think Bangladesh played a tri-nation series in New Zealand recently. So, Bangladesh players have a modest consistency to take part in the World Cup.”

He said, ” The teams, which qualified for ‘Super 12’ have capability and all of them are strong. Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka performed well in this format. All the teams really performed well in their qualification phase. The teams, which played in the qualification round presented competitive cricket. There were little bit difference of strength among the teams, which played in qualification phase. Namibia could also qualify. That all the teams performed well in the qualification round.”
Captain of Bangladesh team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” We did not do well in this format of this competition. But I believe we have ability to do well in this World Cup.”
Shakib said, ” I don’t feel any challenge that we have to prove something. We have come here to play World Cup and it is really an important matter.”
He said, ” We have five matches in our group phase. We have taken preparation to play five matches. Our preparation will be same for all the participating teams.”
