BD Engineer to originate Smart Textiles

Bangladeshi Engineer Maruf Rahaman Khan, one of the members of a research team, developing into Smart Textiles.
He is providing technical and programming support to Toronto based client Myant Inc to develop and produce Smart Textile solutions.
The engineer is Maruf Rahaman Khan, hailing from Rajshahi and obtained degree in Masters of Business Administration from East West University Bangladesh and BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Department of Mechanical Engineering of Rajshahi University Of Engineering and Technology (RUET).
Maruf worked in Bangladesh at different apparel sectors as the textiles engineer from 2007 to 2016. Later on, he moved to the United States (US) and stayed there till 2018. After that, he went to Canada and began researching for Smart Textiles.
The Smart Textiles is the placement of instrument or sensor in garments, which can determine / sense the users’ body temperature and blood pressure that will help doctors get information on the users’ physical condition.
The products of the Smart Textiles are yet to enter the market as it is now at the research level, says Maruf, adding that he hopes that the products will come to the market soon.
He said, “Bangladesh is a hub of garments in the world. Different renowned brands of the world get their garments made from Bangladesh. The skill on the textiles the country has will help it to be a hub of Smart Textiles in future too.”
Maruf said, “The products of Smart Textiles will be in numerous uses-such as in furniture, medical garments, automobiles and others.”
In case of intelligent driver seat, it will be very easy to get information on drivers’ physical conditions that will be associated with a safe journey. In response to a question if the products to be made in Bangladesh soon, he said, “It will take some time but not long.”
