‘Increase egg production, consumption to meet nutrition’

Livestock experts at a post-rally discussion on Friday stressed on increasing production and consumption of egg to meet nourishment for building a healthier and meritorious nation.
The district Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Rangpur, organized the discussion at its conference room in observance of World Egg Day- 2022 in the city, reports BSS.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the discussion as the chief guest with District Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam in the chair.
Divisional Director of the DLS Dr. Md. Abdul Hye Sarker was present as a special guest.
Deputy Director of the district DLS Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, Additional District Livestock Officer Dr. Zobaydul Karim, President of District Poultry Industry Owners’ Association and heroic freedom fighter Akbor Hossain and its General Secretary Armanur Rahman Lincon addressed.
Dr. Sirajul Islam said the poultry sector is thriving fast to improve rural economy alongside increasing egg production to meet nourishment of the population contributing to attaining the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
“Consumption of egg is also contributing a lot to ensuring sound health for the people of all ages, including children, adolescents, pregnant mothers and women,” he added.
Dr. Shah Jamal Khondker said eggs are being produced abundantly in Bangladesh by adopting latest scientific technologies maintaining maximum safety for public health to meet nourishment of the population.
Dr. Enamul Haque said the flourishing poultry industry has changed the economic conditions of hundreds of poultry farmers and common people of Rangpur district in the last thirteen years.
“A silent revolution has taken place in the poultry industry in Rangpur region increasing production of eggs to meet protein demand of the population along with cutting poverty by creating huge jobs in rural areas,” Haque said.
The chief guest called for increasing egg production and ensuring smooth supply to local markets to meet nutritional demand of the population for attaining the SDGs by 2030 on the way to build a healthier and developed Bangladesh by 2041.
