Illegal gas connections, unpaid bills will be brought down to zero: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that illegal gas connections and outstanding bills will be brought down to zero as soon as possible.
In a verified Facebook post on Thursday, the state minister said that a special team of Titas Gas has conducted drives in different areas of Joydebpur, Gazipur, Ashulia, Kamrangirchar and Narayanganj for the last two days to identify illegal connections and gas bill arrears.
“Our goal is uninterrupted gas service to legitimate customers,” he added in his published post.
A meeting was held on Wednesday regarding the ongoing illegal gas line eviction campaign of Titas Gas and the collection of outgoing bills where the progress of the project and future course of actions were discussed. Apart from the State Minister, Chairman of Petrobangla Nazmul Ahsan, Titas Gas Managing Director Harunur Rashid Mollah and all GM, DGM of Titas Gas were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Nasrul Hamid said: “Illegal gas lines and connections cannot remain operational in any way.”
The state minister urged Titas Gas officials to play a more effective role in collecting the outstanding bills.
