‘Jhilmil project set for home construction in a year’
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher, MP said efforts are underway to create facilities so that people can build houses at the Jhilmil project within a year.
The minister made the remarks while visiting the RAJUK-implemented Jhilmil Residential Project in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka on Wednesday, said a PID release.
He said the project had not witnessed the expected progress for many years.
Construction of a police station, school, hospital and ETP centre inside the Jhilmil Residential Project is now underway, while work on the apartment complex will begin soon, he added.
The minister said street lights are being installed to illuminate the project area, while CCTV cameras are being set up to ensure security.
During the visit, he inspected the under-construction school, hospital and police station buildings at the project site.
At the project’s site office, Project Director Md Aminur Rahman presented the activities of the project. Treasurer of Jhilmil Society Md Mosharraf Hossain also spoke on behalf of the society.
State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, MP, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Nazrul Islam and RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md Riazul Islam were present during the visit.
