2 varsity students held over gang-rape of beautician

Police have arrested two private university students from the capital’s Sukrabad area on charges of gang-raping a beautician.
The arrestees are Riyad, 24, and Yeasin Hossain alias Siam, 23.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police HM Azizul Haque came up with this disclosure at a press briefing at his office on Thursday evening.
He said another youth and a young woman were involved in the incident. Efforts are going on to arrest them.
The arrested youths confessed to raping the woman, who is reportedly five months pregnant. They also admitted that they had physically assaulted the woman.
Azizul Haque also said that the duo was arrested today after the victim’s husband filed a case against four people with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Wednesday night.
An unknown woman called the beautician on Tuesday for an at-home makeover. When she reached there, three men raped her at gunpoint, the police officer said citing the victim.
Police also said the woman was raped at Riyad’s apartment, who had the house to himself as his parents were not home at the time.
The victim has been admitted to the one-stop-crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
