Injured Tamim to leave for Melbourne tomorrow

Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal, who suffered knee injury, will leave for Melbourne, Australia on Friday to be treated under a specialist there, said a BCB media release on Wednesday.
BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said that Tamim will fly for Melbourne on Friday and is expected to consult Dr David Young on Monday (December 29).
“We will decide on the best possible management of the injury according to the advice of Dr Young,” he added.
Scan reports have identified a grade-1 meniscus tear on Tamim’s left knee and his treatment would be based on the opinion and suggestions of Melbourne-based orthopedic surgeon Dr David Young, according to Dr Debashish.
Terming Tamim as a very important player for Bangladesh team for the ensuing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Dr Debashis said: “Our priority is to get him fit in the shortest possible time. Equally, it is also important to ensure that the recovery and rehab are not hurried.”
Tamim felt pain in his left knee during the recently-concluded home series against Zimbabwe and he was diagnosed with hamstring injury for which he had taken ten days rest before featuring in the Dhaka Premier League. But, as the pain remained, Tamim went for the MRI only to get the bad news ahead of the World Cup.
