Imranur fastest man, Shirin fastest woman

Imranur Rahman of Bangladesh Army became the fastest man of the country clocking 10.29 seconds in the 100-metre sprint of the Sultana Kamal-Alila Group 16th National Summer Athletics Competition at Army Stadium in the city’s Banani on Friday. He broke his previous record to win the race. He achieved new national record. Imranur Rahman is an expatriate of England. He used to take part in his favourite event 100-metre sprint for Bangladesh Army.
Shirin Akhter of Bangladesh Navy became the fastest woman of the country clocking 11.95 seconds in the 100-metre sprint at the same venue on the same day.
Earlier, Imranur Rahman emerged the fastest man in 100-metre sprint in this year’s January. He took 10.50 seconds to become the fastest man. He defeated Mohammad Ismail, who was the fastest man for the fourth times.
Shirin Akhter regained her title. She defeated Sumaiya Dewan to become the fastest woman. Sumiya Dewan is an athlete of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan.
Shirin Akhter also made new national record. She took 11.99 seconds in SA Games held at Guwahati of Assam in 2016.
It may be mentioned that Mahbub Alam was the fastest man clocking 10.54 seconds in 1999, which was once the record of Bangladesh.
Imranur Rahman became sixth in the 100-metre sprint clocking 10.09 seconds in the recently concluded Islamic Solidarity Games, which was held at Koya in Turkiye.
After retaining his crown, Imranur Rahman said to a local media, ” I am very happy for my performance. I feel very well as I have retained my position. I am satisfied with my timing. I hope I shall do better in my next competition.”
Shirin Akhter said, ” I worked hard in last couple of months to regain my position. Today I get the result. I get the result of my effort.”
