Ten Biman staff sacked

Risingbd.com :Ten officials of national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines were temporarily sacked from their posts for their involvement in gold smuggling. Sources from Biman Bangladesh Airlines confirmed on Sunday. The sacked Biman staff were identified as- Mohammad Masud, aircraft mechanic; Anis Uddin Bhuiyan, aircraft mechanic assistant; Shahjahan Siraj, junior inspection officer; Abu Zafar, cleaning supervisor; Kamrul Hassan, junior security officer; mechanics Osman Gani and Mujibar Rahman, officer Saleh Ahmed, and employees Raihan and Maksud of Engineering Hanger. Earlier on Saturday, the officials of national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines and four others were sued for their involvement in gold smuggling. Customs intelligence filed the case with the Airport Police Station in the capital on Friday night. A six-member committee was formed to investigate into the recent biggest haul of gold seizure. Earlier on July 24, last year, customs officials at Shahjalal International Airport seized 1,064 gold bars weighing around 124 kg from the luggage chamber of a Biman flight.
