144 in Bhairab over AL rivals meeting

Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj :The local administration imposed section 144 at Bhairab town in Kishoreganj district as the two factions of Bhairab Awami League called a meeting at Lakshmipur Raja Mia Government Primary School ground on Sunday at the same time.Apprehending possible violence, the local administration slapped the ban on meeting in and around the venue.The restriction remained effective from 6am to 12pm on Sunday.Jesmin Akter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bhairab, announced the ban on Saturday evening.According to party sources, Iftekhar Hossain Benu, President of Bhairab Municipality unit of Awami League and General Secretary Md Shefayet Ullah called a meeting at the school venue over forming Bhairab municipality unit.On the other hand, Bhairab municipality AL Vice-President Khalilur Rahman group convened another meeting at the venue at the same time.The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Police were patrolling the schoolyard and its adjacent areas.
